Get to know me

Hello!

I’m Ariana Jeffers, polymer clay artist and painter. I was born and raised in southwest Minnesota and I now live in Fargo, North Dakota. I moved to Fargo to attend college and I’m currently studying at Minnesota State University Moorhead. My Major is in Studio Art with an emphasis in Illustration.

My love for art started at age 10, with polymer clay charms. I create little kawaii foods, animals, and people. When I started college I found my love for nature and bugs. I love studying the small aspects of nature and painting them.

My paintings focuses on the macro aspects of nature, observing small plants, bugs and creating artwork that is larger-than-life size. The tiny mundane parts of nature are overlooked by many, including myself at times. I study my subjects and work on accurately representing them in form, proportion, and detail. I gravitate towards accurate color representation as well. Color is a big part of my work as living in a grey and white world doesn’t bring me joy, but color found in nature does. Creating art is a means for my self expression, love for nature, and a place to practice mindfulness all in one activity.

The peace I have found in nature is the biggest drive in my creative process and sharing my work, as I want other people to be able to see the beauty of the overlooked. The intent behind the artwork is to show people the small side of nature in a large scale and for them to experience the veins that feed a plant or the multitude of colors that make up the wings on a brown moth.

My work with polymer clay is the fun and playful side of my artistic journey. My focus with polymer clay is mainly sweet foods. My charms are based off of real foods, and I love capturing all the little details. Polymer clay allows me to truly play with colors, styles and textures. My work with polymer clay is how I stay in touch with my childhood self, its the medium that opened the art door in my life, taught me how to be intentional with my work and has grown along side me as I've gotten older.

creating is the center of my world, and brings me an abundance of happiness. I love sharing my work with the world and helping others find joy in the mundane.
